Play in a day | Wednesday 22 October

Explore your creativity, develop your acting skills, make new friends and create a new play in a day!

This workshop is designed for 8 to 13 year olds to give them an opportunity to develop a broad range of skills through the vehicle of devised drama. The group will create a short play from a stimulus linked to fairy tales through a variety of workshops designed to develop creativity, drama skills, group working, confidence and communication. Family and friends will be able to watch what they have created together as a team, at the end of the day.

There are also two spaces available for budding theatre technicians. The technical workshops will be led by Evan Rees, Century Theatre Technician. The group will learn the basics of live sound, lighting and designing the audio visual elements of the final performance at the end of the day.

Help us create a sensory garden in Coalville Park

We’re excited to share that North West Leicestershire District Council has been selected for the Tesco Stronger Starts grant scheme to fund a sensory garden in Coalville Park – designed especially for children and young people with additional needs.

This vibrant space will promote wellbeing and inclusion through scented blooms and tactile planting.

How you can help:

Shop at Tesco Ashby Extra between October and mid-January
Use your token to vote for our project
The more votes we receive, the more funding we’ll secure – up to £1,500!
Let’s work together to make Coalville Park a more inclusive and joyful place for all.

Thank you for your support!

Councillor Michael Wyatt, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change at NWLDC, said: “I’m delighted to see North West Leicestershire District Council selected for the Tesco Stronger Starts grant scheme.

“The sensory garden in Coalville Park will be a wonderful addition for children with additional needs, offering a space that’s inclusive, calming and full of life.

“I encourage all residents to support this fantastic initiative by voting in-store at Tesco Ashby Extra – together, we can help bring this project to life and make a real difference in our community.”
